What we are playing at beach- Ultimate frisbee

Hi all, we will be playing ultimate frisbee at Pasir Ris this Fri. Do check out the videos to see how it is like!

We will be playing an easier modified version.

Each team will form up a line at their own end zones, the defense team pulls (throws) the disc to the other team as a "kick-off". Like captain's ball, the objective is to pass the frisbee all the way to the other end where someone positioned there will catch it. No travelling is allowed in possession of frisbee. There will be a change of possession of frisbee to the other team when 1) thrower misses target and frisbee lands on ground 2) a defender catches or blocks the frisbee in midair 3) fribee goes out of boundary. A foul is the result of contact between players, although incidental contact (not affecting the play) does not constitute a foul.

This seems to happen quite often, you pull off the freeway and there is someone on the corner of the exit asking for some change with a sign. Well, I was just coming back from my time in the mountain praying, full of excitement, faith and new found spiritual power when I saw Jose, in a old blue parka jacket asking for some change so he could eat, survive or what have you. For a moment, I thought to myself…”Come on Jaeson, you see guys like this on a daily basis are you really going to give some change to each of them?” And then it hit me, I think if I ever see someone who is at such a low point that they need to beg for money, food, shelter or anything I am going to do my best to do something.

I had my friend roll down the window, pulled out a couple dollars and gave it to Jose. He said thank you, but before he left, I asked him if he knew God and then he turned and said, “Of course my friend, I am a Christian and I believe in God.” I said, I am too and I pray you will be able to find a job, that God will bless you in this way. Then we had this divine moment, where he just smiled a big smile that was not a normal smile, but a “I know God” smile :) It was weird, but heart warming and divine all at the same time, it’s hard to describe.

Right then, my friend said, “Hey man, I just felt the love flow out right there!” And I was like, yeah that was love. Not just the giving of change, not just even the prayer of blessing, but the divine connection, the looking into the window of each other’s soul knowing that we had hope in a Higher Power, a divine purpose and that all was not lost, but there was a divine something… it was love <3

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I was blessed reading this. It reminded me why Christians tend to click better with each other. Its because of our love for God. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ; we belong to the same family. And with this relationship that we share with each other, we ought to love each other more and treasure each other's presence. Well we're all not perfect people and sometimes we might step on each other's toes. But guys, remember this, we all love the same God. This is the thing that connects us all together. Let us all learn to love each other more and more everyday, as we learn to love God more and more each day.

happy graduation to our two new bible school graduates - Zhitai and CeChao!

now that you've graduated, do continue to bless our cellgroup with encounters and knowledge that you've obtained from SOT! i'm sure our cellgroup will be in for a greater revival with you guys around!

We had a mini celebration at Swensen's last friday for the two and it was simply a great time of fellowship with the icecreams and each other! i'm sure the earthquakes that we ordered were shattering to our tastebuds right! swensen's icecream never disappoints! ok that's besides the point.

so after fellowship, zhenghao, big jon, basil, pris, crystal and me went over to nebo for some boardgame fun! basically we paid $1.80 (original price $2) per hour but because nobody came to chase us away, we played for a total of 3 hours! moral of the story is, go after 10pm! because the people wont check!

Hey guys!

I just want to share this little experience of mine with you!

Well as you know, we've been fasting as a cellgroup for twice weekly for the Easter period right? Usually, I would fast from 6am to 6pm but I'm normally awake from 12pm onwards so technically I'm fasting for 6 hours only. So on Wednesday, I decided to fast from 1pm onwards as I had a test at 4pm and I didnt want to study on an empty stomach. It's a horrible feeling. Ok so from 1pm to 6pm it was still fine, as in the hunger or urge to eat did not strike me. But after 6pm, when it was dinner time, the urges to consume something edible and the pain at the stomach was really horrible. Not to mention that I decided to go on a walk around Jurong Point after completing 2 tests in a day. So at JP, as you know, there are just so many restaurants and bakeries and food stalls and stuff and it was just really so so so tempting. A BIG PART of me wanted to just break fast and eat some food because the pain was just to excruciating. I think you guys can empathize with this! However, I still decided to go ahead to fast till 1am and to keep my word to God.

What I am trying to say here is that whenever you feel tempted, or feel like giving up, never let yourself be tempted, and never give up on yourself, or give up on God. Since He has the power to bring you through this, He will surely give you the strength to bring you through it! Whenever I face struggles or pain in my life, I'll always have this image of Jesus on the Cross at Calvary, and how He never gave up seeking God and asking God to save Him. Never for the moment of weakness, let yourself slide backwards and go the easy way out. Doing God's will is never an easy task. It's like an uphill walk. As you're walking, you can't see what is beckoning you at the top. All you do is just keep walking and walking and walking. It takes alot of mental strength and physical power to keep the walk. It is like our walk with God. Going downhill is easy, because you're going with the flow (of gravity). But we all know that going uphill takes effort. When we reach the top, we know that we have triumphed over all odds! The beautiful scenery at the top makes the effort all worthwhile! Then as you descend downhill, it is an easy task because God guided you through the arduous journey and now you know you have the wisdom and strength to follow your way out.

What I've learnt from all these is to trust God with all your heart and soul. He is indeed the one who will not fail you. and He is the same God yesterday, today and forever.

If God has not created miracles in your life, hold on! I pray that your walk with God will always remain fufilling and strong, just as you would like it to be.

Hey guys! This will be my first post to our cell group blog.
Since our cell group consist of more brothers, i thought posting this will be pretty helpful.
Don't get me wrong eh, I'm not discriminating our only rose in the bush of thorns. As CeChao mention on the tag board, she is our PRECIOUS TREASURE hor. I'll definitely not dare to offend our cell group treasure would I? Don't worry lah Fiona, we love you lots. Nah! give you XOXO. HAHA!

Anyway, this post is on Men United Conference.

Quick Summary of the conference

I have 3 ‘R’s for it, rejuvenating, renewing and refreshing. The focus of this conference was more on waking the mighty men in us. Apart from that, this conference also reminds us that the role of the men carries greater responsibilities which can be shown much more explicitly in a husband and wife relationship.

Introduction of the conference

Often when we talk about men’s conference, we’re often mislead into thinking that the idea of such conference is to make the men in the church tougher, stronger and manlier in aspects of his voice, looks, actions, and whatever assets that he have to charm a girl with. The sad reality for the confused participants of the conference were all dashed. What this conference is referring to here is not whether a male by birth is acting masculine or feminine, but focusing primarily on the daily basis of choices and decisions taking account his attitude and character setting him apart from being a boy and a man. In this short message I’m writing, I’ll not mention anything about responsibilities, or accountability, or being courage s into details of a male, it is all too cliché.

Contents of the conference

Moving on to the topic “Waking up the mighty men in you!” as mention in the conference. What Pastor Phil mentions in general is that problems arise in life so as to overcome them and allow an individual to achieve his given potential. What Pastor Phil is trying to bring across is that problems will teach an individual to make the better decision for future problems. Doesn’t a message like that can be preached to literally anyone be it the gender as it will apply to them too, why specifically to the men? That is because men are assumed to be the decision makers in any relationships between a man and a woman. Still in disbelief and doubt, here is a quick revelation for you. In a typical relationship, is it the male of the female that decides to approach the opposite gender to ‘pop’ the questions be it becoming stead or husband and wife? The men! Here is another, when you approach your mom and ask for higher pocket money, who does she direct you to? Your dad!

Although that lesson taught by Pastor Phil is not about decision making, it is really more on how to not avoid problems and instead overcoming it in life as it will reap benefits such as solving a similar problem if ever it is encounter again and more. He specifically spoke this message to the men as he knew that the decision to any solution of a problem tends to have a strong backing of a men’s decision.

Males have the tendency to be more influential. Don’t belief me again? Check out the top 100 most influential people in the world.

So in concluding, as a male, be open to problems and not dodge it as you'll never know when one of those problems you've solved earlier might come in useful=D

Ending

Although men assumed greater responsibilities especially in times of decision making and have the tendency to be more influential, get this right in your head peeps. Men and women are equally important as there are much in the role of a women just not mention here.

To us who have been accompanying her in the past several days, she is probably the bravest and most positive girl we have ever seen.

Remembrance

I think God is amazing.

It is certain that He has a plan for you, me, and everyone of us! And step by step, He unfolds the plan to us in His own unique way.

Well just to share with you, I'm pretty much a person swayed easily by my emotions. When i'm happy and high, I'm REALLY DAMN HIGH. But when I hit rock bottom, I can sink into my emotions like nobody's business. Lately, many events that has occurred really tested my limits and made me think about reliance on God at ALL TIMES. God said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

People may fail you, but God will never. I realized it the hard way that as long as your heart's with Him, you trust Him wholly, He will never disappoint you. And as you put your trust in Him, He certainly rewards by showing the way to deal with things, to deal with hurt and to glorify His name.

As a child of God of six months and counting, I am still very blur about the plan that God has for me. But I am always reminded that I should trust Him in days of darkness, because He is the Light. I just want to encourage all of you, that no matter what, always have Him in your hearts. Never let one day slip away without remembering Him of His love.

God loves all of us.

Ray's Water Baptism

Wait a minute, WHO IS RAY?

haha.. its dear Zhi Tai's baptism name!! He just got water baptized!!

it was indeed a crowd over at Jurong West's Roof Terrace! There were just so many people going for their water baptism and the sheer amount of people supporting their friends and family was just overwhelming!

For a person who has never experienced baptism, nor seen one, today's experience was great for me. There was just so much anticipation in the people who are dressed in white from head to toe!

while baptism lasts for a mere 13s, the effect of the newness of God in our lives is permanent, and eternal!

Hey everyone!

How was your chinese new year? Hope it was a great time for you guys! Indeed, it's nice being able to skip school or work for a few days to spend time with our families in the 'new year' in our chinese calendar.

Time passes really quickly.. Its February already! Did you guys spend your January fruitfully? Anyway, the first cell group of the month of February (according to the schedule Johnson gave us) is coming so get excited about it yeah! Time spent in fellowship with cg is always an enjoyable time for me!

I like those verses highlighted in green. It tells of the amazing things that God puts in our lives and we can never thank Him enough for that. I think the best thing that God gave us is the people around us. But well, not all people are that likable but nevertheless it is people who give us the company and they are the ones who shower us love. No man is an island. And i believe that to start we should start being aware of the people around us and their needs. Firstly from our family, to our friends, to even our cellgroup! Lets not take people around us for granted and start loving each other from the bottom of our hearts. Tell someone you love him/her today! It doesn't matter whether its a guy or girl!

I love E371 for the little things that the people in E371 do for each other. From giving bible study to making birthday cards and celebrating birthdays to fellowship after service and cg, I see love flowing all over the place! Let's just all keep this spirit of love there always! God is with us and God is love!

Dear E371,

Hey friends! CNY is around the coner and the spirit is up! Did u visit chinatown? Well....i have and its....like....4times! wow! A lot of people but compare to the last few days towards CNY, its even worst. So i guess starting today which is thursday...they will open till very late. 2-3am or much later. Who knows? Who wants to go chinatown?!! LET ME KNOW! we can go! even 2 of us also can go la...come on. be sporty man....

Well, just a reminder to those who visit our blog... next fri is our reunion day! Fri 730pm. Various people will be buying different food etc. PLEAS invite our christmas friends to come.

Its a gathering of fun and talking etc.

happy (belated) birthday SHENG QUAN!

just posting one photo now! its a nice photo! with the birthday boy standing out of the 'crowd' nicely in his green shirt! i love the way our cg has this unique sense of telepathy where everyone just unanimously dress up in similar colours. ie monochrome. (or is it just that people like to dress up in either black or white?)

Hi Friends,

Well, after a long wait...i am HERE. Lol

MY 1st time bloging in E371 blog....can u imagin...i take ages to do this.....

Humm....lets see what to blog....well, i dunno what to say, i say what have i been doing during the 2 weeks long break from work.

Well, these few weeks been cleaning my house to get ready for CNY. Paint the house, move the TV sets, cupboard, shoes racks etc out and vacum the floor and mop it...wow...you should go do that for your house and see those dust, dirt, lizard poo...etc..its so so so x10000 DIRTY! i was in horror when i saw those ....well...u know..ya. LOL.

Left the walls and windows to clean and coming wed is to go my Godmother house to help her clean up too. SO TIRED ok..... i wonder you people help up at home for Spring cleaning or not....humm...base on what i know...i doubt you people did...lol! Ok! ok! not all...but some alright...ya..

Yes, speaking of CNY. Why we do spring cleaning before that? Maybe all of you already know by now...your age...your brain...etc..should have know why. But for some who does not know...let me tell you what i know....lol

For the chinese people, they believed that well, its a brand new year, so everything at home got to be clean, its like getting rid of the bad stuffs, bad luck and so on. Therefore, to have a Spring Cleaning, its to "hope for a better luck in the new year". That is why everything got to be spic & span. Then goes to our personal dressing! New Year, New clothings!! shoes..everything got to be new. For myself, i will for sure change everything new! jeans, shoes, socks,top, hair...and even my...hummm lol...shall not say..lol!

Ok, so by now, i hope u know why we chinese do what we do before CNY. Really hope that you all can or should help up during these times and be a good testimoney at home to your parents. Let them know that they have "die and gone to heaven" those kind...cause you help to do house work! lol. (wat u waiting for???go do now! dont just sit here!! and reading!! go go go!)

Well, i guess that is bout all i have to blog for now. shall blog again soon...which...i also dunno. lol!

last saturday, we had a GREAT TIME at ZHI TAI's birthday celebration! for those who missed out on the fun, here's what we did!

here's zhi tai with the johnson-standard-birthday-celebration style! he looks happy to receive his 'present'!

with his buddies here! zhenghao and cechao! great brothers arent they? cechao's card for zhitai was exceptional! totally displays the great love for our dear zhitai as he transforms him into a JEDI!

a birthday is NEVER complete without a sabo! presenting zhitai with his so not challenging birthday sabo courtesy of basil and guang hui! yes guanghui came to visit and he really gave our birthday boy a treat of his life!

yes second part of the sabo was this word search specially designed for zhitai! zhitai! treasure your brotherly love pls! look at how many people are crowding around you to give you support!

ok the puzzle is actually a way to find out who holds zhitai's present. it contains all the cg members' names. after he manages to find all the names, the letters 'c', 'g' and 'l' should appear. so its kind of obvious that the present is with johnson!

well, our fun with the bday boy doesnt end here. because of his lack of sincerity for what the cg has done for him, he is made to pray for 2 full minutes! wahahaha.. see what happens to you when you dont show enough faith in your fellow brothers and sister?

but of course, at the very end, he still gets his present, the REAL present, after all that! see.. we're nice people!
